History

Date Posted to GIS:
2000
  • 2000: In early 2000 attempts were made to create a Parks feature class. This data set would consist of: all dedicated parks; green space and areas categorized by the OCP as PRO and; any green belts belonging to the DNV which required brushing, cutting and other maintenance.
  • 2000: A solitary Parks feature class was created and updated whenever a new park was dedicated. Additional information was added to the feature class such as unique park names and IDs.
  • 2006: The Parks activities database was integrated into the Parks feature class. The Parks feature class now includes all the amenities and activities for each park.

Quality

Accuracy
  • In some areas accurate as the cadastral and in other areas the line work is generalized.
  • Spatial information is collected and entered using the next best method applicable to this dataset.
  • Spatial information is very accurate but could be improved using a better collection technique.
  • Where multiple collection/entry methods, the more accurate method is predominant throughout this dataset.
Completeness
  • Spatial information is known to be complete, expected to be complete or very close to complete.

Maintenance

The Parks Department will send updates to GIS or edit it via a Geotools edit tool. Data may also be input by GIS during orthoimagery checks.
