History

Date Posted to GIS:
2003
  • 2015: Ditches, Flumes, and Creeks were merged together to form Storm Sewer Surface Channels. Swales were digitized to maintain connectivity, connecting pipe outflow to creeks. Surface channels participate in the Storm Sewer geometric network (GMN). Previous history of ditches and flumes is the same as culverts. Previoius creeks history can be found in the standalone creeks layer metadata.

Quality

Accuracy
  • Creeks as per TRIM specifications and augmented by digitizing from 2003 orthoimagery. Some creeks have been GPS surveyed. Ditches and Flumes as per engineering drawing
  • Spatial information is collected and entered using the next best method applicable to this dataset.
  • Spatial information is very accurate but could be improved using a better collection technique.
  • Where multiple collection/entry methods, the more accurate method is predominant throughout this dataset.
Completeness
  • Some spatial information may be missing.
  • All but creeks expected to be near or fully complete. Creeks may be missing. Intermittent creeks and smaller tributaries may not be present.

Maintenance

The Utilities department or a contractor will submit engineering drawings to the GIS department. Utilities information is updated in the GIS as per the engineering drawing, the drawing is scanned, logged into the engineering drawing database and the hardcopy drawing is hung up in the vaults.
